The Pearl River Estuary Tunnel is 13.69 kilometers long and is a key control project of the Shenzhen-Jiangsu Railway. The hydrology and geology of the tunnel project are extremely complex. It runs through multiple main channels, with a maximum burial depth of 106 meters, a seawater pressure of 10.6 bar (equivalent to a fingernail-sized area withstanding 10.6 kilograms of pressure), and a high-water pressure construction area of about 110 meters. , is currently the submarine tunnel with the largest depth and the highest water pressure in China. It is also one of the most difficult underwater tunnels under construction in China.
